James M. Irwin

Associate

James Irwin is an associate at Pearne & Gordon LLP. He has experience in preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications as well as in performing legal research in the chemical and pharmaceutical arts. He also provides other legal support, including litigation, drafting, and research support for validity and infringement opinions.

Prior to entering the legal field, James worked as an analytical chemist for Akron Rubber Development Labs. He was responsible for conducting FDA approval and compliance testing, as well as independent testing for various other pharmaceutical, aerospace, and transportation organizations.  James also received grants from the NIH & NSF to conduct research at Duquesne University and North Dakota State University. James’s research focused on drug-phospholipid interactions and pharmacokinetic enzyme inhibition.

James is a member of the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Chemical Society.
