Mike Padden to Speak on ABA Roundtable Panel Regarding Patent Cases Before the Supreme Court

Mike Padden, the head of the Pearne & Gordon Litigation Group and co-chair of the Patent Litigation sub-committee  for the ABA Section of Litigation’s Intellectual Property Committee,  will be leading an ABA sponsored roundtable discussion of patent cases before the Supreme Court on March 24, 2017 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. (Eastern time). An unusually high number of patent issues are before the Court this term.  The Supreme Court has granted certiorari to review six patent cases, and twelve additional patent case petitions are pending. The roundtable will provide a review and update on the following five cases:

  • Samsung v. Apple (design patent damages)
  • SCA Hygiene Products v. First Quality Baby Products (whether laches applies in patent cases)
  • Life Technologies v. Promega (extra territorial induced infringement)
  • TC Heartland LLC v. Kraft Food Brands Group LLC (venue in patent cases)
  • Impression Products, Inc. v. Lexmark International, Inc. (patent exhaustion and restraints on downstream uses)
